Description :
This is an inorganic compound, the molecular formula is ZnSO4·7H2O, commonly known as opalite, zincite. Colorless rhombic prismatic crystal, white crystalline powder, soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol .The relative density is 1.975; Melting point 100℃. Susceptible to weathering in dry air. Soluble in water and amines, slightly soluble ethanol and glycerin, insoluble in liquid ammonia and ketones. When heated to 30℃, 1 molecule of crystal water is lost, 6 molecules of crystal water are lost at 100℃, 7 molecules of crystal water are lost at 280℃, and Zn0 and S03 are decomposed at 767℃.

Application:
In cooling water system, zinc salt is the most commonly used cathodic corrosion inhibitor, which is mainly inhibited by zinc ion. However, it should not be used alone, but with polyphosphate, organophosphate, polyol phosphate, molybdate and other compounds to play a synergistic effect, and can reduce their dosage. The usual dosage of zinc ion in composite corrosion inhibitor is 2 ~ 4mg/L. When the amount of zinc salt increases, the corrosion rate decreases, but when the concentration exceeds a certain level, the amount of zinc ion continues to increase, and the influence on the corrosion rate is not obvious, but it will increase the operating cost and the concentration of zinc ion in sewage water.
① Used for preparation of zinc supplements, astringents, etc
② Used as mordant, wood preservative, bleaching agent in paper industry, also used in medicine, artificial fiber, electrolysis, electroplating, pesticide and production of zinc salt
③ Zinc sulfate is a supplement of zinc in feed, which is a component of many enzymes, proteins, ribose, etc., in animals, participating in carbohydrate and fat metabolism, and can catalyze the mutual conversion of pyruvate and lactic acid to promote growth. Zinc deficiency can easily cause hypokeratosis, dysplasia and hair deterioration, and can affect the reproductive function of animals. use
④ Zinc sulfate is a permitted food zinc fortification agent. China's regulations can be used for salt, the amount of 500mg/kg; In infant food is 113 ~ 318mg/kg; 130 ~ 250mg/kg in dairy products; 80-160rag /kg in cereals and their products; In liquid and milk beverages, it is 22.5 ~ 44mg/kg.
⑤ For artificial fiber coagulant. In the printing and dyeing industry, it is used as a mordant and an alkali-resistant agent for valamine blue salt dyeing. It is the main raw material for manufacturing inorganic pigments (such as zinc barium white), other zinc salts (such as zinc stearate, basic zinc carbonate) and zinc-containing catalysts. Used as wood and leather preservative, bone glue clarification and preservative. Used as emetics in the pharmaceutical industry. It can also be used to prevent disease in fruit tree nurseries and to manufacture cables and zinc microfertilizer.
Preparation:
In the acid-resistant reactor with agitator, a small amount of zinc oxide and a certain amount of sulfuric acid are first added to form a thin solution of zinc sulfate, and then zinc oxide is added under agitation to make a slurry, and then sulfuric acid is added to control the pH value of 5.1, which is the reaction end point. The reaction liquid is filtered, and the filtrate is heated until 80℃, add zinc powder to replace copper, cadmium, nickel, etc., and then filter, the filtrate is heated to more than 80℃, add potassium permanganate (or bleaching powder) and heat to boiling, and oxidize impurities such as iron and manganese. Zinc sulfate heptahydrate was prepared by clarifying, evaporating, cooling and crystallizing the filtrate, centrifugal dehydration and drying.
Safety information:
Zinc sulfate heptahydrate is irritating and corrosive, avoid contact with skin and eyes, should wear appropriate protective equipment when using. When using or operating, be careful to avoid inhaling zinc sulfate heptahydrate dust or gas, so as not to cause respiratory irritation or other discomfort. When storing, zinc sulfate heptahydrate should be placed in a dry and well-ventilated place, and stored separately from acids, combustiables and easy oxides to avoid accidents. When treating zinc sulfate solution heptahydrate, attention should be paid to control the concentration, avoid splashing into the skin, and avoid ingestion or contact with oral mucosa.
Security:
Not flammable. Irritating to skin and mucous membrane. Anhydrous substances and concentrated solutions can cause skin ulcers. Inhalation of dust can cause respiratory, digestive and circulatory system dysfunction. Staff should be well protected. This product should be stored in a cool and dry place to prevent rain, moisture, sun and heat. Shall not be stored and mixed with acid, alkali and colored substances.
