Description :

Cyclopentane is a cycloalkane, is an organic compound, the molecular formula is C5H10, colorless transparent liquid, insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, acetone and other organic solvents, mainly used as solvent and chromatographic analysis of the standard material.

Cyclopentane has good solubility and excellent lipid removal properties, and is often used as an organic experimental solvent in the laboratory. It is also a common cleaning agent that can be used to remove grease and dirt.

A common method of preparing cyclopentane is by dehydrogenation of alkanes. A common method is to obtain cyclopentane from petroleum cracking gas by fractionation.

Application:

Cyclopentane can be used as solvent, blowing agent in polyurethane foam preparation (instead of freon) and standard material for chromatographic analysis. Because it does not contain chlorine and fluorine, it has also been used in recent years as a refrigerant to replace chlorofluorine-containing refrigerants.

Leakage emergency treatment:

Quickly evacuate the personnel from the contaminated area to the safety zone, isolate them, and strictly restrict access. Cut off the fire. Emergency personnel are advised to wear self-contained positive pressure breathing apparatus and fire protective clothing. Cut off the source of leakage as much as possible. Prevent access to restricted Spaces such as sewers and flood drains.

Small amount of leakage: absorption with activated carbon or other inert materials. It is also possible to scrub with an emulsion made of a non-combustible dispersant, which is diluted and placed in the wastewater system.

A large number of leaks: build a embankment or dig a pit to contain; Cover with foam to reduce steam hazards. Transfer to a tank truck or special collector with an explosion-proof pump for recycling or transport to a waste disposal site.

Protective measure :

 Respiratory protection: When the concentration in the air exceeds the standard, wear a self-priming filter gas mask (half mask).

 Eye protection: Generally no special protection is required, and chemical safety protective glasses can be worn when exposed to high concentrations.

Inhalation: Quickly remove from the scene to fresh air. Keep your airway clear. Administer oxygen if breathing is difficult. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration immediately. Seek medical attention.

Ingestion: Drink enough warm water to induce vomiting and seek medical attention.
