Physical Properties
Appearance: Cream to light yellow liquid.
HEC Content: At most 40%.
pH Value: 6 - 8.
Solubility: Soluble in fresh water and salt water, and also soluble in 15% HCl.
Temperature Stability: 93 - 110℃.
Specific Gravity: 0.93 - 0.98.
Chemical Properties
HEC Liquid is made by mixing HEC, mineral oil and surfactant. It is a non - ionic water - soluble cellulose ether, which can be easily dispersed and dissolved in water to form a clear and viscous solution. Its aqueous solution is stable in the pH range of 2 - 12.
Product Advantages
Easy to Handle: It mixes well in low - shear - rate environments.
Good Salinity Tolerance: It works well at any salinity and can increase the carrying capacity of the fluid.
High - efficiency Viscosifier: It is a highly effective viscosifier and is also compatible with most of the mud additives.
Applications
Oil Drilling Industry: It is used as a thickening agent and fluid - loss agent. It can viscosify various monovalent salt brines, provide viscosity for spacers or pills, control fluid loss, clean the hole during washing, milling or reaming, and is used in gravel - pack fluids and non - damaging drill - in fluids.
Coating Industry: In latex paint, it can prevent pigment gelation, help pigment dispersion, stabilize latex paint, and increase the viscosity of components. Paints thickened with HEC have good rheology at various shear rates and have pseudoplasticity, with good workability and leveling property.
Daily Chemical Industry: In shampoos, hair sprays, neutralizers, hair conditioners and cosmetics, it is an effective binder, thickener, stabilizer and dispersant. In laundry powders, it is a soil anti - redeposition agent.
Packaging and Storage
Packaging: Usually packed in 25 - kg plastic drums or other appropriate containers.
Storage: Should be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated place, away from heat and direct sunlight. The storage temperature is preferably between 5 - 30℃, and the shelf life is generally 12 - 24 months.
