Description :

A colorless liquid with a fruity odor, butyl acetate is an active solvent for film-formers such as cellulose acetate butyrate, nitrocellulose, polyesters, epoxies, alkyds, vinyl copolymers, and acrylic resins. It is widely used in nitrocellulose lacquers, readily dissolving the resin and imparting good flow properties.

N-Butyl Acetate (C₆H₁₂O₂) is a colorless transparent flammable liquid with a fruity odor. Its relative density d₄²⁰ is 0.8825, refractive index nD²⁰ is 1.3941, and boiling point is 126.1 ° C. It is miscible with alcohols, ketones, esters, and most commonly used organic solvents.

Natural n-butyl acetate is mainly found in apples, bananas, cherries, grapes and other plants, volatile, difficult to dissolve in water, can dissolve oil, incense brain, gum, rosin and so on. There are two main methods for the industrial production of n-butyl acetate: intermittent method and continuous method. As a basic ester chemical raw material, n-butyl acetate has a wide range of uses. Because of its moderate volatility and good permeability, it can be used as a drug absorption promoting component. N-butyl acetate is less acute toxic, but has anesthetic and irritating effects, at 34-50mg/L concentration of human eyes and nose have a strong irritation, at high concentrations will cause anesthesia. First aid measure

Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and rinse skin thoroughly with soapy water and clean water.

Eye contact: Immediately lift eyelids and rinse with plenty of running water or saline for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.

Inhalation: Quickly remove from the scene to fresh air. Keep your airway clear. Administer oxygen if breathing is difficult. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration immediately. Seek medical attention.

Ingestion: Drink enough warm water to induce vomiting.

Leakage emergency treatment

Quickly evacuate the personnel from the contaminated area to the safety zone, isolate them, and strictly restrict access. Cut off the fire. It is recommended that emergency personnel wear self-contained positive pressure breathing apparatus and antistatic work clothes. Cut off the source of leakage as much as possible. Prevent flowing into sewers, flood drains and other restricted Spaces.

Small amount of leakage: absorption with activated carbon or other inert materials. It can also be washed with a lot of water and diluted into the waste water system.

Large leakage: build a embankment or dig a pit to contain it. Cover with foam to reduce steam hazards. Transfer to a tank truck or special collector with an explosion-proof pump for recycling or transport to a waste disposal site.

Operational handling and storage

Operation precautions: closed operation, full ventilation. Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear a self-priming filter gas mask (half mask), chemical safety glasses, antistatic work clothes, and rubber oil-resistant gloves. Keep away from fire and heat. No smoking in the workplace. Use explosion-proof ventilation systems and equipment. Prevents steam from leaking into the workplace air. Avoid contact with oxidants, acids and alkalis. When filling, the flow rate should be controlled, and there is a grounding device to prevent static accumulation. When handling, light loading and unloading should be done to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equipped with the corresponding variety and quantity of fire equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may have harmful residues.

Storage precautions: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. The temperature of the reservoir should not exceed 30℃. Keep the container sealed. It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids and bases, and should not be mixed. Explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities are adopted. Do not use mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to spark. The storage area should be equipped with leak emergency treatment equipment and suitable containment materials.

Applications:

① It is good organic solvent widely used in cellon lacquers, and used as solvent in processing artificial leather, fabrics and plastics. It may also be used in the spice industry.

② It is certified by GB2760 - 96 as an allowable food spice. As a kind of spice, it is widely used to prepare essences such as banana, pear, pineapple, apricot, peach, strawberry and berries flavors. It may also be used as the solvent for natural adhesives and composite resins, etc.

③ It is used as an extractant in oil processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes; used in compounding of spices and as an component in various flavors, such as apricot, banana, pear and pineapple flavors; and also used as an analytic reagent, chromatographic reference matter and solvent.
